This was a drawing, I made for the opening of the exhibition Preview on the window of Etablissement d’en face Gallery. It is representing / a blown up drawing of the famous roaring Lion from the M.G.M (Metro-Golwyn-Mayer)’s motion picture opening credit. As the concept of the exhibition was the idea of a trailer, announcing our coming summer exhibition at Netwerk centrum (Aalst).

I thought the lion was an appropriate symbol to celebrate the beginning of the show. The medium I used was pink-transparent toothpaste for it’s sparkling shaded tones quality. For the opening the toothpaste was still fresh, you could even smell it, and at night from the inside of the gallery, you had the impression that the pink shinny lion was merging in the background, among the other street’s neon signs from restaurants and night-shops.

More ironically, I wanted to suggest an important element of «the American way of life»: the ideal of white teeth (like movie stars). But It was also in relation with an other of my work, I was showing in the gallery, Stars' Façades.
